Basic Things Women Still Can’t do in Saudi Arabia

While we are fighting against the gender equality or feminism , there are also women in Saudi Arabia who still can’t do basic things on their own that we do. There are many abnormalities in Saudi Arabia’s law system that women don’t have the right to follow the basic fundamentals.

Here are some things that women in Saudi Arabia are prohibited to do :

1. Wear make up or Clothes that reveal their Beauty :

They have to follow the dress code which has been decided by the govt. .They are supposed to wear the long black gown known as Abaya and cover their heads also they aren’t allowed to do basic make up as well. .Most of the women do cover their faces as well that makes their life difficult at public places.



2. Dependency on Guardians :

Guardianship system is there.They have to depend upon approval of male guardian ( Father, Husband Brother) for Marriage , Divorce , Travelling , to work or study abroad.

3. Interact freely with men :

In many countries it is allowed for women to interact or have relations with men , In Saudi arabia it is not the case. In Marriages there are two halls -one for women and another for men. Many colleges and schools also have different buildings for both the genders.

4. Can’t do Business without Male sponsor :

Firstly women can’t do business without the approval of their guardians and secondly they cannot granted a loan without her character approved by two males at least.



5. Cannot Apply for the Passport alone :

A woman needs her Father’s or Husband’s signature on the application and a letter of permission to even apply for a passport.Woman can not even think to leave Saudi Arabia to any destination without her Father’s/Husband’s permission.

6. Do Swimming in Public :

Women are not allowed to swim in public because they cannot wear swim suits in public where men are allowed to do the same . They can only swim in private pools or Females spas.
