Mumbai Style Vada Pav Recipe
Vada Pav is the most common and popular street food of people in Maharashtra. It is so delicious that now people in North India have also started making Vada Pav at home, you will also find it as a street food snack and in a few restaurants too. Pav is a small loaf of bread which you can make at home, but it is easily available in bakeries, super markets. You can have it with green chutney, or tamarind chutney or garlic chutney. Following is the full recipe with ingredients.
Ingredients for Vada ( also known as Batata Vada or fried potato stuffed fritter).
Boiled potatoes
½ tsp Mustard seeds
Asafoetida (Hing)
Coriander leaves
Salt according to taste
Turmeric
Chilli powder
Crushed garlic 5-6 cloves
Gram flour
Steps:
1. Heat oil in a pan, then add asafoetida( hing), mustard seeds, crushed garlic. Sauté it for a minute.
2. Then add turmeric, salt, chilli powder.
3. After this, add mashed boiled potatoes and make a mixture.
4. Add coriander to the mixture.
5. Everything must be according to one’s taste.
6. Keep aside the mixture and let it cool.
7. Now, take a bowl, add gram flour, water to it and make a paste, (neither too thick nor too thin).
8. Add salt, chilli powder, carrom seeds to the paste.
9. Make medium sized balls of the potatoes mixture.
10. Take a deep frying pan, put oil and let it heat.
11. Now, dip the balls in the gram flour paste and deep fry in the pan.
Your Vadas are prepared now. You can get the Pav from the bakery. Serve it hot with garlic or green chutney.
