CM Kejriwal announces Delhi Metro and Buses Rides Free for Women

Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal proposes Free Metro and Buses Rides for Women to encourage them to use public transport more for their safety. They said that they are ready to bear the losses of DMRC and Delhi Metro and ready to compensate also. Though they have proposed this plan to waive the women ride charges but it has not been passed yet.

When asked about the overcrowdedness in the Metro , AAM Party leader and CM , Kejriwal said: “The projected ridership of metro was 40 lakh after the completion of Phase III. In March 2017, 28 lakh commuters used to take the metro. Now, around 25 lakh people take the transit daily. Clearly, there will be no congestion.” The government is considering the plan and if it gets passed then it will take two to three months to implement it.
