The first trimester in pregnancy is between 0 to 12 weeks. It is one of the crucial periods of pregnancy as 80% of miscarriages occurs in the first trimester.

Therefore, if you are in your first trimester, strictly this do’s and don’ts to keep yourself and your baby healthy.

Do Change your Eating Habits

Now, you aren’t only eating for yourself but for your baby also, so indulge in the correct diet. Try to eat natural and organic stuff if you can. Importantly, cut alcohol and caffeine completely out of your diet. Plus, stop smoking or taking any kind of medicine without your doctor’s recommendation.

Do Take Prenatal Vitamins

Prenatal vitamins can supply your body with necessary folate along with calcium, zinc, and iron. They can also provide DHA and EPA omega-3 acids for your baby’s brain development.



Don’t Stop Exercising

The first trimester is crucial, but it doesn’t mean you should stop exercising. You should keep your exercises light like yoga, walking, swimming, etc. Don’t try cardio or heavy gym stuff.

Don’t Eat Raw Meat

Pregnant women who eat raw meat and eggs are at risk of contracting listeriosis and toxoplasmosis. It is a life-threatening illness that can cause severe birth defects and miscarriage. So, no sushi for the next nine months, ladies.

From morning sickness to change in the body, you can experience many new things in your first trimester. Just be cautious and prepare to welcome your baby very soon!
